The local area has many attractions within easy reach by car, bus, train, bike and on foot. From the Canal towpath, you can visit the medieval town of Bradford on Avon and further on to the beautiful and historical Roman city of Bath. The opposite direction takes you to the Cain Hill Lock Flight and the market town of Devizes.
Canoeing: Canoes can be launched from The Canal Site.
Cycling: There are many cycle routes locally; through the country side or along the lanes.
Fishing: Fishing is available all along the Kennet and Avon Canal but a Rod License is required (please be aware of overhead wires).

Lacock Village is famed for its picturesque streets with many historical buildings and is frequently used as a location for many television series and films, such as: Harry Potter, Downton Abbey and Pride and Prejudice.
Castle Combe is a quintessentially English village (often named as the ‘prettiest village in England’) in the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding National Beauty in north west Wiltshire (about 15 miles from our site). The village has featured regularly as a film location, most recently for Stardust and Stephen Spielberg’s War Horse. It was also used in the original Dr Doolittle film.
The village has a rich history and the houses are made up of the honey coloured Cotswold stone, typical for a village of this area
Longleat: Explore the paintings, tapestries and furniture of Longleat House, get lost in the formal gardens or take a drive through the Safari Park- beware of the Monkeys!

The Caen Hill Lock Flight is the longest continuous flight of locks in the country and an amazing example of canal engineering. Relax on one of the many benches and watch out for the resident Kingfisher whilst fish leap out of the water, or enjoy a pint in the Black Horse pub and watch the narrowboats on the lock flight. Part of the charm of living in the countryside is the restrictions on our power supply on the Paddock Site. We are termed as being ‘Off Grid’ and our supply is only 10 amp- roughly about the same as one 13 amp socket in your home.
Appliances that are not known to cause a problem:
· Normal lighting inside and outside
· Televisions/Radios/Laptops/Phone chargers
· Fridges
· Razors/Hair Dryers
· Kettles and small griddles (on their own)
· Toasters/Microwaves (max 10mins)
Please do refrain from using:
· Fan or convector heaters
· All radiators or halogen heaters
· Caravan central heating system
· Electric ovens and griddles.
· 3KW kettles.
· Heated power showers.
